Circa 2009-2010

We meet, every week, in the theatre, to act and to write.
And we keep our dues low so actors and writers can make a long-term commitment.
Our company is open to all styles and approaches that help the members reach their full potential.
Our philosophy is that 'we learn by doing.'
We believe that a well-functioning community is vital to the development of talent and an excellent theatrical experience.
Just as great individuals make for great groups, so great groups make for great individuals.
Our company is dedicated to artistic self-expression and creative interactivity.

The Complete Philosophy

It is our belief that we learn by doing and not through notes given by company members telling us what they think went "right" or "wrong" about a particular performance.
Writers and Actors have the option to receive feedback so long as they ask for it. We recognize that what is Constructive to one person may be Destructive to someone else.
All feedback is delivered with love and respect.
We bring our own art to the table, every Wednesday, and discuss it. These discussions stem from a Q & A between company members following a performance or reading.

***

The Company Workshop

Every Wednesday, all members attend The Company Workshop from11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Membership benefits include a two and a half hour, weekly workshop created to provide a haven where actors and writers can feel free to explore their talent through scene study, improvisational techniques, writing prompts, and cold reads.

We provide a safe non-judgmental environment where actors/writers need only be concerned with the work.

We practice and expand our skillsof collaboration and mutual support in order to develop as actors, writers, and directors.

***

The Network

Painting by Nicholas Wolfson

Complete Company Members are encouraged to develop the feeling that they belong to a group and have a strong sense of community.

Members are part of the creative team of the theater and are NOT required to clean the space on a weekly basis or do any day to day administrative work at the theatre.

***

Company Dues

It costs less than $500 for the entire year to be a part of our company. Membership dues are paid in four installments per year and are payable in advance.  Dues pay for the workshops, website, and any marketing materials.

This amount comes out to $120 paid every three months.

So for approximately $10 a week you receive a two-hour and half weekly workshop, a venue to bounce off ideas, and the opportunity to collaborate with a talented group of artists.

The Barely Dressed Show

Hey, what are YOU doing this Monday night?
Come out and see our groundbreaking variety show; which includes both scripted and un-scripted material
Monologues.  Music.  Improv.
A totally unique assortment of entertainment; featuring original songs, dramatic monologues and zany Improv.

The cast uses improvisational acting techniques to perform spontaneously. Audience suggestions are used to guide the performance as the actors create dialogue, setting, and plot extemporaneously.
Like as seen on the hit TV show “Whose Line Is It,Anyway?”

Experience the simple joy of being entertained as you watch different acts, musical performances, and Improvisational comedy.
The variety format made its way from Victorian era stage to radio to television. Variety shows were a staple of television from its early days into the 1970s.  In several parts of the world, variety TV remains popular and widespread.

The Complete Theatre Company is bringing the variety show back and in a big way.

As an avid follower of the TCTC, a renowned theater group known for their performances all over NYC, I've been privileged to watch them in numerous venues. Several of my friends are active members and never miss the weekly classes the community organizes. On a lighter note, I can always tell when it's either Monday or Wednesday of each week; these days have become synonymous with Batman for me. Why? Because on these particular days, my friends consistently sport one of their long sleeve Batman t-shirts to class. Their evident admiration for the Dark Knight piqued my curiosity, and I was taken aback by the sheer variety of Batman-themed apparel they owned. To put it in numbers, these two pals of mine have more than two dozen distinct Batman t-shirts. Wanting to be a part of this Batman craze, they introduced me to their trusted online store. After browsing through the collection, I ended up purchasing some of the most fantastic long sleeve Batman T-shirts, one of which was based on the movie "Batman v Superman". This store swiftly secured a spot on my list of favorites. Wow! Little did I know before that two dozen designs merely scratch the surface! Interestingly, the "Batman v Superman" shirt I wore one day caught the attention of another DC enthusiast at a coffee shop. It set off an intense conversation about the age-old competition between Batman and Superman. We delved deep, discussing who was the superior hero and dissecting the intricacies of their relationship in the DC universe. It's fascinating how a single t-shirt can ignite such a spirited debate, and also how it all started because I'm one of the fans of The Complete Theatre.

When I recently I discovered that the domain for TheCompleteTheatre.com was available I bought it with the goal of recreating some of its content from archived pages. I definitely didn't want someone else purchasing the domain and re-purposing the site for something that had nothing to do with this theater company. You can view this site strictly for its historical context. Go to their new site, www.completetheatre.net, to see what they are presently up to.
